Portland in Solidarity Against Covid-19

ONLY STRONG COMMUNITIES CAN COMBAT COVID-19

Our Demands Include:

  • Release imprisoned people in Multnomah County jails.

  • Release people in immigrant detention.

  • Immediately end all home evictions and institute a rent and mortgage freeze.

  • Immediately end all police sweeps and patrols of houseless community members.

  • Immediately end all quality of life policing activity.

  • Immediately freeze all Trimet public transit fare.

Want to ensure these demands are met and that we keep folks safe? Here’s how you can get involved:

Care Not Cops is moving quickly to demand real safety and resources for our most vulnerable community members, not increased policing and being kept in cages.

It is imperative that the responses to this public health crisis revolve around distributing resources to communities to ensure all needs are met—they can not revolve around criminalization, fining, threat of jail time, or any other form of policing, which also includes surveillance or enforcement by the US military or national guard.

We’ve gathered over 20 Oregon organizations to call for Governor Kate Brown and Multnomah County and City of Portland officials’ immediate adoption of these demands.
